Construction Outlook 2010
Public sector organizations and qualified minority-owned businesses are invited to learn and network at afternoon event
The UTSA Institute for Economic Development will sponsor a presentation, “Construction Outlook 2010” from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24 in the Durango Building Southwest Room (1.124) at the UTSA Downtown Campus.
This two-hour program is designed to provide information on planned or ongoing construction opportunities in the public sector at the local, state and federal levels. Participating organizations include the University of Texas Health Science Center, University Health System, City of San Antonio, Ft. Sam Houston/BRAC, and many others. Representatives from qualified SBE, HUB, MBE, DBE and 8A businesses are invited to attend.
The presentation is hosted by Minority Business Enterprise Center, a component of the UTSA Institute for Economic Development. The Small Business Development Center Contracting Resource Center will also participate.

SBA head Karen G. Mills visits Institute for Economic Development
UTSA’s Institute for Economic Development played host to U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Karen G. Mills on Monday, Feb. 9, 2010. Robert McKinley, associate vice president for economic development at UTSA, guided Mills through an executive briefing about the Institute for Economic Development in general, and two programs in particular — the Small Business Development Center National Information Clearinghouse (SBDCNet) and the SBDC International Trade Center.
